Our story still has many pages to be written and we are now seeking an Applications Technologist to be an integral part of the R&D team driving business growth through the execution of both reactive and proactive product development.
YOUR ROLE
- Independently select and recommend suitable solutions that compliments the client’s project briefs, ensuring conformance with legalities, the client’s budget, performance & stability requirements of the flavour and provide suggestions or improvements for the most common applications.
- Execute daily brief-related tasks including flavour selection, product evaluation and application development.
- Lead evaluations of flavours in food applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations.
- Serve as technical expert and advisor to flavour creations team, marketing, sales, and customers for various applications.
- Develop and improve finished product formulations using knowledge of industry standards, country specific and customer requirements.
- Established knowledge of raw materials in a recipe, their function & chemical interaction, success parameters and processes in order to provide a consistent outcome in the finished product; and production processes that may influence the end product.
- Manage and prioritise projects to ensure they are delivered on time or earlier.
- Develop your technical network within Essential Asia to collaborate and expand knowledge of portfolio and solutions to finished products.
- Visit clients and prepare content for marketing to provide the visual presentation component and present the technical information of products to the client.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships and have a sound understanding of the client’s brand and that of their competitors.

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
To be a complementary fit for this role you will have:
- Above 6 years of experience in a food applications lab or related area.
- Understanding of food applications, ingredients, and processes with practical experience in customers’ food manufacturing environments.
- Track record of time management and project management skills and the ability to successfully lead customer projects.
- Ability to effectively participate in customer projects including customer visits.
- Ability to translate market trends into innovative products for our clients.
- Experienced knowledge of sports nutrition, non-alcoholic beverage, dairy, bakery, ice cream and confectionery is a must.
- A relentless solutions-focused mindset and an approach to think outside of the box.
- Proven skills in product development and flavour applications.
- Passionate about food, trends and insights.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and be flexible.
